AUSTIN, Texas - May 18, 2016 – Xplore Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: XPLR) manufacturer of the world’s broadest range of high-quality rugged tablet computers, announced today it has secured an order for an additional 120 Xplore Bobcat tablet computers from a leading U.S. railroad transportation company. The long-time customer recently placed a $1 million order for Bobcat tablets in April. The continued deployment and additional orders for fully rugged Bobcat tablets is to help railroad conductors safely stay connected and up-to-date with scheduling and cargo data, regardless of distance traveled, or amount of shock and vibration endured.
The Bobcat was originally selected for its fully rugged IP65 rating and extended 14-hour battery life – both useful features for efficient operations in a railroad yard. In addition to the tablets, the railroad ordered the tablet’s docking solution and optional secondary battery.
“The railroad and transportation industries face a unique set of challenges, which Xplore helps to solve with its mobile rugged tablet solutions like the Bobcat,” said Mark Holleran, president and chief operating officer for Xplore. “The return on investment and financial savings garnered by our customers, as well as the increased mobility they immediately experience, makes Xplore the perfect technology partner for major railroad companies.”
The Xplore Bobcat features a slim, lightweight design and runs Windows 7, 8.1, or 10 operating systems. The tablet is certified MIL-STD-810G, rated dust and water resistant, and can withstand a five-foot drop and operate in extreme cold and heat. Featuring a 10.1’’ outdoor viewable display with anti-reflective glass and glove touch capability, the Bobcat comes standard with two full-sized USB 3.0s, micro SD and micro HDMI-out ports, as well as a micro SIM card reader and RJ-45 gigabit Ethernet plug-ins.
