Continuado

Smart Manufacturing (and Mobility) May Be Closer Than You Think

por Jenna Liermann

Investment in automation along with mobility solutions must be the first step in creating modern, paperless manufacturing plants that will thrive amid new competition. To gain access to the information they need to monitor, maintain, and report on the functioning of the sophisticated machinery, they need rugged tablet PCs that give them access to all of the server-based software that is running the manufacturing floor.... Retailers Move Mobility Focus to the Warehouse

por Bob Ashenbrenner

Nimble is the name of the retail game these days and that requires an increased reliance on real-time data and tools that can capture, analyze, and deliver actionable data anytime, anywhere. Mobility-driven automation has real impact on retailers’ response capabilities across the entire operation. It is important to increase investments in mobility-based picking, packing, and shipping solutions back at the warehouse.... Continuado

Warehouse/DC Mobility: Moves to Stay 3 Steps Ahead of Failure

por admin

A systems failure is never acceptable in any industry, but the implications of such an occurrence in the Warehouse or Distribution Center can ripple all the way to the manufacturer, the retailer, and the consumer. That’s why it takes more than smart planning to keep operations running smoothly – and keep you in business for the long-haul.... Continuado

Want to Mobilize Your Warehouse/DC? Don’t Wait to Make a Move

por Bob Ashenbrenner

Chess is all about strategy. So is mobility. Even if you have the right game plan mapped out, waiting to execute a critical move until you “absolutely have to” may place the odds of winning (easily) against you.

Perhaps that’s why I was so perplexed when Bridget McCrea recently reported in Logistics Management that many Warehouse and Distribution Center decision makers were “simply waiting until their existing technology becomes obsolete to upgrade” to mobile technologies inside the four walls.... Rugged Tablet I/O Needs Aren’t New, They’re Just Not Optional Anymore

por admin

Last week I stressed that Manufacturing, Distribution, and Logistics operations have unique connectivity needs not necessarily found in other industries. USB ports alone can’t satisfy all of their I/O requirements for testing, inspection, and other every day workflows. Relying on USB bridges as work-arounds for HDMI and Serial Cable connections aren’t really cutting it anymore either. (While these USB-to-Serial dongles kind-of work, are you really going to continue changing your expensive CNC machine to conform to a dongle?)... Continuado
